Gold Coast’s most beautiful cafés

Why we brunch where we brunch comes down to several factors—the coffee, the cheery staff, the ability to get a table after 10am on a Saturday (curse you, all you weekend early birds…).

But lately, we’ve been selecting our cafés based on how jaw-droppingly stunning they are. Perhaps you’re the same?

Have you welled up with emotion because the tables and chairs so perfectly match the space that they’re in? Do you go to the bathroom just to look at the snazzy tap fixings? Would you happily give up your own humble abode and move into Paddock’s storage cupboard if they’d let you? Did you maybe, perhaps just once, try to steal a coffee cup because it was just so dang beautiful?

If the answer is “yes” to any and all of the above, you’re going to love this list of the most beautiful cafés on the Gold Coast. Prepare to start fangirling over their glorious interiors.

Bumbles Café

While Gold Coast’s café culture is blossoming around it, Bumbles is one of those charming beauties that feels like it’s been there forever. Whimsical rooms perfect for private parties be it baby showers, birthday gatherings, or a long ladies lunch lubricated with bubbles, the interior of this one-of-a-kind café could be mistaken for a Queenslander-style cottage. Adding to the allure are cabinets filled with drool-worthy cakes, slices, and all things nice.

Garden Kitchen and Bar

While this versatile venue morphs into a restaurant and bar as the day progresses, by the golden morning light we like to think of this sun-drenched venue as one of the most gorgeous spots for breakfast on the Gold Coast. Find a pew under the towering windows of Garden Kitchen and Bar’s light-filled atrium or outside overlooking the palms and grassy lawn. What are your plans this weekend?

Elk Espresso

Quite possibly the Gold Coast’s ultimate breakfast spread for your next flatlay project, Elk Espresso makes us weak at the knees with every visit. From their signature panna cotta to the majestic elk etching on the perfectly paint-chipped wall. Our tip? Go nuts with the snaps and then drip feed them to your Insta account over the weeks ahead. You busy little café butterfly, you.

Where: 16 Chelsea Avenue, Broadbeach

Bam Bam Bakehouse

Bam Bam Bakehouse is another of the most beautiful cafés on the Gold Coast who has us leaving serious heart eye emojis all over their Insta account. From the crafty team who delivered us Paddock Bakery, they stepped up the décor styling when converting an underutilised office space in Mermaid Beach. From the layers of textures and slick tiling, pressed metal, upcycled wood furnishings, fragrant blooms, leafy park views, and dreamy glimpses into the bakehouse, there’s no shortage of goodness at Bam Bam. Need another excuse to visit? Cruffins are now baking on weekends. Drooool!

Hendrixx Espresso

Hendrixx Espresso is proof that injecting a whole swag of love and creativity into a tiring old surf shop is all you need return the magic and energy to a long neglected piece of the area’s history. Theming and tunes inspired by the legendary Jimi, we love the original hard wood floors, retro couches, stained glass windows, Bromley artwork, dusty library of books, and smiley staff. Can we bring a cosy queen bed and move in, please?

Where: 1063 Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach

Café D’Bar

Our go-to when cruising around down south is super-chill Café D’Bar, on the headland at Point Danger. This sweet café cum restaurant earns bonus points for having one of the most spectacular locations on the entire length of the Gold Coast. Perched above the legendary waves of Duranbah and Snapper—this rustic gem oozes surfy charm and the first-level dining room is the perfect possie to treat your visiting granny or aunt to brunch.
